Speaking on state television, the Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi has called to help the rebel forces continue to advance toward the capital, Tripoli, The Guardian reported.
"They are not criminals, they come to destroy Tripoli, which come to steal our oil," said Gadhafi Guardian reports.
"Now (Tripoli) is in ruins," he said. "They are coming. Are being destroyed. Come out of your houses and fight against these traitors. Hurry, hurry, and tribes to go to Tripoli. Call the tribes to go to Tripoli."
A government official for Gadhafi insisted forces remain strong and fight, the Guardian reports.
"We are very strong," news agency quoted the Information Ministry spokesman Ibrahim Moussa said. "We have thousands and thousands of fighters who have nowhere to go but to fight."
Oren U.S. TODAY Dorell reports that the State Department would not confirm any of the allegations out of Libya today.
"We are keeping eyes on the fence," State Department press officer says U.S. Beth Gosselin TODAY. "We're just waiting for Gadhafi listens to his people and he leaves."
